Terms and Definitions

The Internet – an electronic communications network that connects computer networks and organizational computer facilities around the world used with the except when being used attributively. 


World Wide – is another way to describe the Internet, which is a network of computers which are connected and that share information and allow communication around the world.


Web Browser – is an application used to access and view websites. Common web browsers include Microsoft Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, and Apple Safari.


UI – User interface – design is the process designers use to build interfaces in software or computerized devices, focusing on looks or style. Designers aim to create interfaces which users find easy to use and pleasurable.


UX – User experience – is the process design teams use to create products that provide meaningful and relevant experiences to users.


Open Source Software – refers to something people can modify and share because its design is publicly accessible.


MySQL – pronounced either “My S-Q-L” or “My Sequel,” is an open source relational database management system. It is based on the structure query language (SQL), which is used for adding, removing, and modifying information in the database.


PHP – is a widely-used open source general-purpose scripting language that is especially suited for web development and can be embedded into HTML.


WordPress –  is a free content management system used to build and maintain websites. Its ease of use and unique blogging features have helped it become the most popular blogging tool on the web.
