Rollout social media campaign

Objective:

  1. continue American Dream presence on social media for the next 4 weeks
  2. Increase awareness of the American Dream discussion at MU
  3. Generate community discussions on Facebook
  4. Achieve at least 300 likes/follows on social networking
  5. Have at least 50 shares/reposts by the end of the 4 weeks

Media Outline:

#MUAmericanDream

  • personalized to MU
  • other colleges can adapt to their own college’s perspective if the project were to continue and spread
  • easy to filter on Instagram

Instagram

  • short clips posted periodically
  • video content only

Facebook

  • comments, sharing, invites to like, etc. (an opportunity to spread the conversation and generate interest)
  • clips, full video, and possible discussion questions posted over the next few weeks

WordPress anchor site

  • full video, clip gallery
  • the story behind the project

Timeline

Week 1

  • Anchor site:
    • finalize layout and upload full video
    • begin uploading video clip gallery
  • Instagram:
    • post 3 short clips
    • follow other MU pages and message them for a follow back as well as repost
  • Facebook:
    • post the full video to Facebook
    • share the anchor site
    • write a short about section or intro about the page’s purpose on the wall
    • share the Instagram page
    • post 2 video clips

Class

  1. have everyone share the page and invite friends
  2. leave a comment on Facebook or repost a video clip on Instagram
  3. have everyone follow the Instagram page who is able to

Week 2

  • Anchor site:
    • finish video clip gallery
  • Instagram:
    • post 3 short clips with a discussion question as the caption
    • post a picture of the logo and share the Facebook link and anchor site
    • get 50 followers through sharing and networking
  • Facebook:
    • post a discussion question (the same as Instagram preferably)
    • post 2 video clips
    • follow other MU pages and request the pages follow back (short message about what we are doing and the need for support)
    • post on the MU Class of 2018 page sharing our info and asking for likes

Class

  1. have everyone respond to the discussion on Instagram and/or Facebook
  2. share or repost a video clip on Instagram or Facebook
  3. make a post about the MU American Dream and ask friends to become involved (call to action)
  4. ask friends to like and follow the social media

Week 3

  • Misc:
    • request a post in The Bark about the MU American Dream project
  • Anchor site:
    • link anchor site to social media so people can share and like on the site
    • finalize any changes
  • Instagram:
    • post 4 video clips
    • post a picture with a quote from a famous individual’s perspective on the American Dream
    • achieve 175 followers by this point
  • Facebook:
    • post 4 video clips
    • post the discussion question (with the video or as a separate post)
    • post on another MU service page asking people to look at the page
    • post a quote from a video or famous perspective on the American Dream

Class

  1. comment on a video or on the discussion post
  2. continue to invite people to the page
  3. post the anchor site link to a social media page along with our hashtag to increase website traffic

Week 4

  • Misc:
    • request a story in the Banner for the next month
  • Anchor site:
    • post photos possibly
    • add new photos to slider to keep updated
  • Instagram:
    • post 4 video clips
    • post a photo with a famous perspective of the American Dream
    • achieve 300 followers by this point
    • share the facebook page again in one of the video posts
    • request Her Campus Marymount, ISS, and the International Student Club share the page
  • Facebook:
    • advertise on another wall or request another page share our info
    • post 3 video clips
    • post 2 discussion questions
    • post a quote from a video or famous perspective of the American Dream

Class

  1. comment on a video, quote, and/or discussion
  2. share your favorite post, quote, or video over the past 4 weeks and when shared, write  note about what you think the American Dream is
