American Dream

“It’s not materializing because the cost of things has risen, but wages have stayed the same, and full-time jobs have diminished.”- Lucky Severson

We have a set idea on what the American Dream represents a humble beginning that resolved in succeeding, the white picket fence with a self-sustaining job that is accomplished by education and the ability to send our children to universities. However this has become a harder task to accomplish due to the rising and driven force of money and power. To receive a well education its going to cost money due to the tuition that the college sets, which puts many people in student debt that they can not repay. There is also the decrease in jobs because the job market is so precarious. Some people call the American dream a nightmare, a fantasy, which is unrealistic.

Michelle Obama: Achieving the American Dream ‘No Longer Possible for Too Many Families’

“That fundamental American promise that so many of us grew up with—that no matter where you start out, with hard work, you can build a decent life for yourself and an even better life for your kids—that promise unfortunately is no longer within reach for too many families in our country.”- Michelle Obama

Michelle Obama’s reflection of the American Dream is that it is no longer attainable for working American middle class families in the country. She also believes that there is a lot more to do, by even giving an example of her family and her father on his ability to provide for his family. Michelle Obama wants more assistance for those in need of trying to achieve a sound lifestyle through the idea of the American Dream.
