I’d like to first say that I find your understanding and knowledge of mapping to be visually stimulating which I can appreciate to a level. As you’ve written here, the reader mentally drawn those maps (or “graphs”) to link between characters, actions, author(s), and story to the novel; allowing “the reader to imagine the novel and its history…”…[Read more]

It’s always an interesting method to utilize the three (3) story-line such as Walton, Frankenstein, and the Creature, and with this type of research, I feel that it will benefit you indeed. I believe close-reading of Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein might be the simple solution to the problem you mentioned of “where one framework ends and another…[Read more]

I like the simplicity of the subject, research on digital humanities that use close reading, it would be interesting to see what collorates between the two. I apologize for any confusion, what I was trying to imply was that “self-reflection” could be another way of reviewing one’s own understanding of the topic (or “self-correction”), then whatever is lacking or misinformed by that person’s knowledge could be corrected; Wikipedia is constantly reviewed and edited by others and their knowledge in that…[Read more]

I agree that maps do serve a purpose within literature but at the same time I could see why the question was posed in the first place. The literature should be able to speak for itself without any visual assistance as one of the purposes of literature is for the audience to rely on themselves to interpret the writing.
