For class the week of Nov. 11th Dr. K came and spoke to us about her creative writing process. The talk coincided with our Chapter on Creative Writing.

I really enjoyed Dr. K’s talk. In my undergraduate classes I took a poetry class and soon learned how hard it is to write poetry. I respect anyone who strives to do it and is successful at it. It was one of the hardest classes I have ever taken and I really enjoyed it.

I have written poetry but it usually rhymes and isn’t very interesting to others because I write about personal events or things that I need to express or “say” something about.

I enjoyed the Chapter in our book on Creative Writing. I agree with Cook that to be a writer you must be a reader and rewriting is essential. I don’t know of anyone who can sit down one time and write something perfect.
