After reading the chapter on Discourse Analysis in our “Research Methods for English Studies” book, I realize I have been reading “Sir Gawain and the Green Knight” through the lens of Christian discourse. From my first blog post regarding this book I have drawn parallels from Sir Gawain and God or God like qualities.

Throughout the story characters wish God’s favor on each other. Sir Gawain goes in search of the Green Castle and in the end Sir Gawain is luckily pardoned and not taken down by a “beguiling” woman.

After reading this chapter on Discourse Analysis it has made me realize how everyone, myself included, reads from an angle or bias. What you have been taught runs deep, from your everyday reactions to your reading.
