I have started this blog for EN-501. I started reading when I was very small. My Mother, had six children and every night she would lay on the bed and have each of us read aloud to her. I remember one night I was reading to her and she closed her eyes, I thought she had fallen asleep and I stopped reading. As soon as I stopped reading she opened her eyes and said, “Why have you stopped? Keep reading”. She was listening, even though she probably really needed to sleep; instead she was making sure I could read and understand what I was reading. I am very thankful to her and will never forget that.
The books that are important to me are the Bible, British mysteries and British historical novels. Writers I like are Elizabeth George, Anne Perry and Anthony Horowitz.
I have trouble reading Greek plays such as Agamemnon.
I have used libraries in my county, now matter where I have lived. I have never been to the Library of Congress but I know we are going there for this class and I am really looking forward to that.
I was an English major for my undergrad degree so I have done all types of reading. One project that I enjoyed was in a “Reading Across the World” class that I took in undergrad where I compared novels by region. I found that very interesting.
