I always fasted because thats what my parents and family did around me, I never really understood what it actually meant until I came to college. It was the first time I researched what lent really was and why people did it. I did however grow up in a Catholic household but church was just another place I got together to see some of my favorite…[Read more]

I agree that the United States was built on immigration therefore it is part of our obligation to welcome and help those in danger even if they are not originally from here. The United States has a major influence not only in our country but all the countries around the world. As a country even without religion it is our moral right to help others…[Read more]

It is nice to see that children can talk about their faith in a powerful manner. A lot of children are not follower of a specific religion or faith but followers of their parents and what they dictate. If a child is not educated about his religion or the parents follow religion in a biased way then it would be wrong for the child to spread his/her…[Read more]

Politics and religion are two topics that are always very delicate to discuss. As a whole, people should be allowed to express how they feel on the other hand the religious factor may not allow them. For example it is fraud upon to even consider abortion in my religion, yet at the same time I marched for Woman’s Rights on Washington because I am a…[Read more]

A religion with no traditions are usually nondenominational. Nondenominational churches follow the bible and nothing more, on the other hand traditions form once a church gets bigger therefore even nondenominational churches practice or induce some type of tradition. Religion with out tradition would not be the same for anyone as religion can also…[Read more]

Pain is only temporary and can be fixed with a change in attitude and mind. I agree with father Mike, God does have a “better plan” for us but you have to work for it. I personally feel that there are more than a million paths you get to choose from until it is time to go to paradise. On the other hand some people could have been the best as…[Read more]

I personally believe that sports does not contradict Catholicism any religion in any way. Originally many years ago Sunday was the “free” day for many Americans as people still only worked majority on Sundays including those in the media industry. The media was desperately looking for programing on Sundays therefore many sports came to play on…[Read more]

It is always a hard transition when change is to come, , an example can be teenagers going through puberty and a parent not wanting to let them grow have their own space, many people may be stuck on the same ways of the church as well. I want to comment but I don’t think i can fully answer a question. This is such a controversial and sensitive topic, I don’t even know where to begin. It does state many times in the bible that men were made for the opposite sex but it also states that God loves all his children. I agree with same sex marriage because the world is filled with many…[Read more]

The book sounds great! I think it is important to teach a child about religion and still have faith, on the other hand as they grow up and learn about different religions they should be allowed to have the space to explore different things.

As a girl who was born and raised in Brooklyn it never gave me any space to think of immigration as a bad thing. I love being first generation in the United States and I will never be ashamed of my roots.
