Becoming A Graphic Designer

What I learned:

I was relieved and surprised with what I read about the different paths every designer took in their career field. I personally don’t have much interest in doing explicitly graphic design, so I found Chapter 10: Illustration Design informative. Designers are not pigeonholed by career options, but they have to be good at what market they are interested in. There are also non traditional career types that  were included in this book such as craft designers and software/UI design. I also didn’t realize logo design was a special category for designer types ( I was surprised it had its own chapter) because I assumed all designers have the responsibility of making logos. However, it seems that if you have a specialty or interest in a field, your abilities and portfolio should be tailored for the field you want to enter.
