Italy 2014: A Study Abroad Program
October 15, 2014 | Leave a Comment
This is the second study abroad program I did with the Counseling Department. Again, I had a great time.
Check out my post about the study abroad in Germany.
A total of 17 students from the Counseling department went to Italy in September to learn more about the role of religion and spirituality in counseling. We stayed 4 nights in Rome and 4 nights in Milan. We attended educational sessions at the Lay Center where we also had some delicious local food for lunch. The Lay Center had arranged a tour guide for use who had a Ph.D. in archeology and excellent English. He showed us the two oldest hospitals in Italy and helped us gain a new perspective on the history of healing. He also took us to many churches with breathtaking artwork. We saw an original of Raffaello!!
I fell in love with Rome.
The architecture, the history, and the art in Italy are like no where else….
In Milan we attended the annual conference of the European branch of the American Counseling Association.
I presented a poster and I co-presented a session. It was a success.
After the conference we had two more days for sightseeing and fun.
Gelato was a daily occurrence….
….and there delicious fresh salads….with amazing mozzarella…
Italians know about food….and also about shoes;)
Anyway, I heard that the location for the program may change again in two years…
I wonder if I can make it..
