Shades of Blue Poetry Reading

Student poet Michael Jachuku Howard performs.

Marymount faculty and student poets gathered this afternoon for our annual faculty-student poetry reading. The event featured readings from student poets Mariah Allen, Michael Jachuku Howard, and Nhu-Phuong Duong.

Faculty readers included philosophy professor Michael Boylan, Dean of Arts and Sciences Christina Clark, and English faculty Susan Mockler, Kirsten Porter, and Holly Karapetkova. The reading was a wonderful showcase of the power of poetry, ranging from ancient Greek and Latin translations, to Anglo-Saxon translation, to contemporary works dealing with love and loss and discovery of self. Many of the poems celebrated love in its various forms in honor of Valentine’s Day.
