LETTER 469- OMITTED FROM ROSS EDITION

This letter does not appear in the Ross Edition of Clarissa, indicating that it was edited out of the manuscript by Richardson between publications of the first and third editions.  In Ross’ edition, there is a jump from Letter 467-470, with this footnote included:

          “Mr. Brand’s recantation-letters (one directed to his friend Mr.—— the other to his patron Mr. John Harlowe) are thought to be originals in their way: But as they are long, and as the reader has already been let into his singular character
