Communication & Media Design professors, Dr. Megan McFarlane and Dr. Kimberly Meltzer, participated in the 2016 Convention of the National Communication Association (NCA) in Philadelphia, PA November 10-13.
mcfarlane01410Dr. McFarlane was an author on two scholarly presentations, entitled, "Scapegoating as a Dual Process: Raced and Gendered Sexual Violence Victimization in U.S. Military and Universities," and "Visualizing Race as a Choice: Refraction and “Passing” in Scandal" for which she and her co-author were awarded the Top Paper Award from the Critical and Cultural Studies Division of NCA.
160928kimberly-meltzer0001Dr. Meltzer presented her paper, "Symbolic or Just Coincidence? How Journalists Made Sense of Katie's, Anderson's and Brian's Talk Show Experiments," and also chaired the Nominating Committee for the Political Communication Division (PCD) of NCA. This included transitioning the PCD to online elections for new officers and creating and overseeing the new online ballot and voting process. NCA is the national association in the U.S. for communication scholars, teachers and practitioners.
