“Meet the Professors”: Kathleen Murphy

We’re doing some “Meet the Professors” posts this year. First up: Professor Kathleen Murphy, Journalist in Residence, who is teaching her first semester at MU.

⚜️Professional/career experience: “I work at Bloomberg Government (BGov.com)….Former managing editor of CQ Roll Call & content manager for StayArlington.com….
Earlier I worked at the Naples Daily News, Internet World and Stateline.org.”

⚜️About her: “I’m a Roman Catholic who attended seminary at Yale Divinity School….One of my first interviews as a college intern at The Olympian newspaper in the 1980s was with Thomas E. Schaefer, an Air Force officer among 52 Americans held hostage in Iran for 444 days….At 19, I was a congressional press secretary….I met the Maryknoll martyr Sr. Ita Ford four months before she died Dec. 2, 1980.”
