This website was designed to help students understand how to analyze films using Critical Race Theory and Ethnic Studies.

The purpose of this website is to examine how black identity is created in film. This project will specifically look at how and why racial cross-dressing is used to shape black identity and it’s impact on society.

The issue of racial cross-dressing was selected for specific purposes. Racial cross-dressing is currently an issue in our schools, politics, and even our fashion industry. It’s important to create social awareness and understanding of this issue and how it is impacting our society because it’s creating separation in America.

This website aims to aid students in applying theory to film and also aware of why racial cross-dressing is wrong.

Based on previous studies I have been found that blackface has been used to maintain societies fear and rejection of black people by reinforcing stereotypes.
