Team Game of Phones Contract

Code of Ethics:

 

  1. Understanding: To be open and respectful towards other people’s opinions and ideas

Understanding all perspectives, asking for explanations if necessary.

To understand that since English is not everyone’s first language, everyone should be welcome to make sure they understand everything at any point of the cooperation.

Listen to each other, also when someone has a different opinion than your own.

 

  1. Respect: To understand others’ positions on a topic with active participation and attention.

Respecting other members, as well as their opinions and ideas.

Respecting other members time. Showing up on time, as scheduled.

Showing and responding to messages on time.

Notify about any inconvenience regarding the time of a meeting as soon as possible.

 

  1. Commitment: The mutual agreement between all team members to do all that they can to complete projects.

Express engagement and willingness to cooperate throughout the course of the semester.

Honor existing commitments.

Accepting the commitment to the Team and all the challenges that might entail.

Be honest on whether you can fulfill the commitments or not.

 

Roles and Responsibilities:

 

Barbara: Team Worker (encourages cooperation and participates in all projects to the best of their ability), Resource investigator (exploring outside sources, opportunities, ideas), Completer-finisher (searches our errors and omissions, looks after meticulous details and polishes final drafts)

Gaspar: Team Worker (encourages cooperation and participates in all projects to the best of their ability), Resource investigator (exploring outside sources, opportunities, ideas), IT practitioner (helps other members with technology/formatting  problems), Creative mindset (Field of work requires unexpected, innovative ideas and creative thinking)

Grace: Team Worker (encourages cooperation and participates in all projects to the best of their ability), Coordinator (reminds the team about the deadlines and jobs to be completed),  Implementer (creates a strategy for working), Submitter (submits all/most assignments for the team on Global Village Website).

Maia: Team Worker (encourages cooperation and participates in all projects to the best of their ability), Monitor evaluator (logical eye, impartial judgments, bring suggestions), Implementer (creates a strategy for working), Completer-finisher (help with editing final products)

Natasha: Team Worker (encourages cooperation and participates in all projects to the best of their ability), Resource investigator (exploring outside sources, opportunities, ideas), Creative mindset (field of work requires unexpected, innovative ideas and creative thinking).

 

Performance Measures:

All members should give each other a brief (1-2 sentences) evaluations which relate directly to the Code of Ethics. Included in this evaluation each member will rate from 1-10 each of the following criteria that relate to the progress of the project. These evaluations should be given privately emailed or WhatsApp to person. The table below shows which team member someone has to evaluate. Every week the right column rotates down one person weekly until you get to yourself and the rotation begins again. These evaluations will begin immediately after submission of contract and will end after the final project and reflection.

Metrics for Team Member Performance Evaluation:

Each of the following criteria will be evaluated in the 1-10 scale.

 

  1. Attendance and punctuality
  • shows up to all the meetings and is on time
  • actively participates in the meetings
  • makes meaningful contributions to discussions
  • notifies about the time difficulties in advance
  • completes individual assignments on time

 

  1. Helpfulness
  • offers help to other members of the team when needed
  • is understanding towards difficulties that others may encounter
  • is thoughtful about cultural differences among team members
  1. Efficiency
  • works in accordance to the established order, in a timely manner
  • cooperates with other team members to facilitate problem-solving and task management
  • expresses prioritizing skills
  • helps the team stay focused on the project
  • is thinking about other members’ skills and talents to assign individual works in the most efficient way
  1. Initiative
  • proposes ideas, solutions and presents opinions on discussed topics
  • expresses leadership qualities
  • takes initiative in designating specific tasks to members
  1. Quality
  • completes individual assignments with attention to details
  • expresses willingness to improve individual work after evaluation from other members of the team
  • is organized in their work manner

 

Termination clause:

 

If a team member consistently (up to three strikes) fails to live up to the performance standards agreed upon in the team contract, and is unresponsive to written performance evaluations documented that lack of performance, we may elect to terminate this team member. Every other member in the group will have to agree if the action will count as a strike. We will start by notifying the affected team member by email (on the date of the third strike) that we intend to terminate that person and for what reason. We will include copies of performance evaluations and any other relevant documentation and invite that member to respond in writing, or email within one week of being notified.

 

If, after due consideration of the response, we decide we want to finalize the termination, we will write a memo notifying the team member of the final decision. All team members (except the member being terminated) will initial this memo. We will copy the course instructor on all correspondences.

 

The distribution of points will be subject to change depending on the current project and the level of commitment and participation members can give.
